Tip of the Day

Introduction

There are many people asking me how to import unfinished download from other torrent managers to Xunlei / Thunder. This tip is to teach you how to import everything and download with Xunlei / Thunder!

Preparation

Before importing, you need to do a few things. Go to ‘My Computer’, locate ‘Tools’ > ‘Folder Options…’

My Computer - Tools - Folder Options

Then you move to ‘View’, un-tick ‘Hide extensions for known file types’.

If you are using BitComet previously, skip this step. Now, go look for the partially downloaded torrent file. Let’s say you are using uTorrent, look for file with file extension ‘!ut’. Rename the file extension to ‘bc!’. Then you’re done.

After that, start Hunter.exe.

Importing Files

Upon start Hunter.exe, Go to ‘Files’ > ‘Import File…’

Files  Import File...

Files > Import File...

Then search for the file with file extension ‘bc!’. Then click Open. You’re done!

    I read that earlier when i bump into your website given from a friend. But usage limit for me is no-no. I’d prefer the 512 package which im using now better than usage limit ones. As for in longer term this will be better.

    im not sure how high 1Mbps package can go, so far i have friends using 1Mbps can go up to like 80kbps w/o tweaking settings. Maybe you know the cap speed for 1Mbps ?

    Yeah speedtest is bad tonight. My utorrent is doing average at 20ish -30ish kbps speed. Did not try different servers (yet).

      Without limit, yes I understand. BUT let’s see the situation here:

      The internet pipeline = highway on the road
      Internet users = Highway Drivers
      Usage Limit = Toll

      Streamyx: Streamyx is giving out unlimited bandwidth and connection you need. It’s like providing you with a highway with no toll. What happens when it doesn’t have any tolls? Highway drivers will use it non-stop. Then it causes massive traffic jam because too many people are using the highway. Therefore, it’s never a good road.

      P1 WiMax: P1 WiMax is like a highway with toll. When there are tolls, not many people will be using it non-stop. Besides, the traffic will be smooth as it’s not hogged by massive traffic. So, you would get a good QOS.

      Even if Streamyx offers you 512kbps, do you think you get half or 70% of the speed? When I view the speedtest result, I know it doesn’t. BUT, it’s still your choice. I cannot force you to use P1.

      Regarding “80kbps w/o tweaking settings. Maybe you know the cap speed for 1Mbps”, I have no idea what you mean by cap speed. Do enlighten me.

    Well since tonight’s speedtest result is so bad, i’d give it a try to run the MOD version of Thunder tmr or whenever the speedtest gives a better result.

    Anyway, read the other version of Thunder’s section of comment, you’d always ask them to post them in forum if encounter any problems. But i see that i posted them here and i got your attention and we keep discussing them here which makes me somehow feels bad. Sorry for the inconvenient caused if any.

      @celestial01

      The reason I ask them to post at forum is because I do not wish the question to be asked over and over again. Whenever an issue is resolved, I’ll pin the post.

      However, I’m not in a good mood due to my bad exam results and yet I am having medial meniscus tear. Combo of these two = killing spree. So, I’m ok if you post here today since there are no one disturbing.

    What i mean by the “cap speed” means the top limit which you ever achieved with ur 1mbps package. As for 80kbps w/o tweaking settings means one of my friend using Utorrent for downloads and its speed can reach 80kbps without doing any tweaking (alter some settings) to boost its speed. Such tweakings im referring to which is port forwarding, adding public trackers, adjust max half open connections, adjusting the connection per torrent and global connections, patching a higher limit for TCP etc… Sorry for my bad english/explanation.

    Good example indeed for your explanation. yes for the speed test result, im not achieving 100% of the speed i suppose to get which is 512kbps but normally if it operates at 400ish for speedtest thats consider quite good for me i guess compared to other 512kbps user.

    Im sorry that you’re not in a good condition today and yet you’re striving so hard to help me with these.

    Im just testing Thunder out see if its still able for me to download at a high speed for now. It sounded like chatting with you here discussing on the current issue. Thanks indeed ! Hope you will get over your bad mood asap and everything will be fine.

      @celestial01

      Max speed ever achieved was 170KB/s with/without tweaks. I normally get around 110KB/s for torrent.

      Don’t worry, I’m still human and I’m the owner of this site, so no problem with helping out my readers. I’m just doing a small favor to the internet community to get good broadband, torrent software and others.
